Researching The Malacca Incident

Hi everyone,

I've received a few questions about how I went about my research for The Malacca Incident and how I stayed true to the real technology of the day.

The obvious answer isn't very exciting, there was ALOT of reading. Anything from technical manuals, wargames, articles, a tonne of Wikipedia and so on. Essentially my one rule was I had to be able to second source any data/key facts where I could, only making logical leaps wherever possible.

I also had the assistance from a number of current and former members of the Australian Defence Force, who were able to help with me terminology, acronyms and the like. Without there help this book would have taken a longer to write and fact check.

However, one useful source I found that I wanted to share, was the YouTube channel, It's Not What You Think. https://www.youtube.com/@NotWhatYouThink

The team from this site put in hundreds of hours to make informative videos (that don't breach security classifications) and they really helped, particularly with the later parts of the story (sorry no spoilers :))

Cheers,

Jack
